our story

Expertise that goes back a generation

In 1983 – during one of the worst economic downturns 
in Houston’s history – our founder Russ Lundemo saw 
an opportunity to start a different kind of company. 
With grit built into our founding story, RL Utilities, Inc. was born out of a commitment to tackling all kinds of projects around the Greater Houston area: small and large, simple and challenging. 

Lundemo persevered through the hard years of Houston’s downturn, spending Saturdays visiting project sites while his young son Klynn was “in Heaven” playing in piles of dirt by his side.

As Houston rebounded, Lundemo worked with plumbers, general contractors, and developers to install new site underground utilities. Demand for the installation of onsite underground storm water runoff systems grew. So did RL Utilities’ knack for constructing them.
